The Italian Series: Pompeii.
Do not wear white to Pompeii. I repeat, do not wear white to Pompeii. My lovely (brand new) cotton white jumpsuit from ASOS was turned grey from all the ash still lying on the ground, I couldn't wear it again that holiday but atleast I looked cute on the day - right?
This was my second time visiting Pompeii, first time 5 years ago with my family and this time just me and the boyf. The ancient town still amazes me, exploring and hearing the stories again still seemed as magical as the first time. Well as magical as it gets in 32 degrees heat, when your sweating your arse off and your bottled water is now really bloody warm.
If you're planning a visit to Pompeii, prepare for a long 'ole day. Pompeii is spread over 170 acres so you can cover as much or as little as you'd like. We were there for 3 hours with a tour guide and we just covered all the main features as it was so damn hot. There's no shade in Pompeii or places to sit so it can get pretty tough in the heat. Also something worth mentioning is that there are no signs or information points in Pompeii so a tour guide was something that came highly recommended. If we had walked it alone, we would have absolutely no idea what we were looking at.
And something that people neglect to tell you about tell you about Pompeii, is that if your tour is anything like ours, it's full of sexy details. I missed have been on a family-friendly tour 5 years ago.
